A night in the Caribbean

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago we attended a fabulous event in honour of the West Indies Cricket Team. It was aptly named "A Night in the Caribbean"  and was held at Tom Tom Bar and Eatery in Auckland. We anticipated a fabulous event and our expectations were met.
















At the entrance, we were given a glass of complimentary fine wine based on our preferences. Waiters maneuvered platters with scrumptious food like fried eggplant with delicious curry dip. Sorry we were busy eating, so no photos.

The atmosphere was electrifying as people talked excitedly, raising their voices above the music being played by the deejay. It was the perfect opportunity to meet other Caribbean people, some we knew, others we met for the first time, and surely many we still haven't met, yet! There were  non-Caribbean persons in attendance and we all had a great time together.

The West Indies cricket team were formally introduced and that signalled the start of the fete.

The team displayed another side when they performed as the Windies Rough Cut band. Vocalists Dwayne Bravo and Jason Holder belted out well known Caribbean songs such as Beenie Man's "Pickney nah hold you down". They also displayed their dancing skills and invited attendees to dance along with them.

We got up close and personal with team members like Darren Sammy, a St. Lucian right-handed batsman and a fast-medium paced bowler.

In our view, the event highlighted some of the characteristics that Caribbean people are known for: engaging personalities, rhythmic waistlines, music loving (dey say we love ah fete!) and being well-dressed. In terms of well-dressed, take a closer look at what we wore.
