'10 days of Fashion in the City': Britomart Fashion Sessions

On our latest adventure we attended the exciting Britomart Fashion Sessions, part of Heart of the City's annual '10 days of Fashion in the City' festival. The Britomart sessions included 6 stunning catwalk shows from an array of New Zealand designers showcasing their Autumn/Winter 2014 collections. These designers included WORLD, Juliette Hogan and Kathryn Wilson. We were honoured to sit front row at WORLD's catwalk show this week. Read on for more details!

WORLD is an internationally recognised apparel and beauty brand founded by New Zealanders Francis Hooper and Denise L'Estrange-Corbet. The fashion House describes itself as a "factory of ideas and experiments with a witty, fearless approach to fashion that is much about personality as it is about clothing" (Britomart.org).

Their catwalk show featured unique, bold and avant-garde pieces which included metallic fabric, ruffles and extravagant shoulder details. As the models strutted down the runway, flashing lights and an unexpected but delightful explosion of confetti kept the audience engaged. There was also an eclectic mix of uptempo music blaring from the speakers which added to the high energy atmosphere. Our eyes were certainly glued to the runway. Here's a snippet of the show below:

For our own looks, we worked with the close fitting, lady-like silhouette of the pencil skirt. Here's how we wore it.
